Orquídea is a kaleidoscopic tale of the political and ecological life of orchids in Colombia, a country grappling with the climate crisis while trying to enact a peace process. The story is told through people who care for orchids in the jungle–from ex combatants of the FARC to peasant farmers to conservation biologists–and the orchid’s perspective itself.

Colombia has been at war for over 50 years. In 2016, the FARC signed a peace treaty with the Colombian state and put downtheir arms. Extractive projects entered Colombia's Amazonian region of Caqueta, leading to 40% of its jungle to be deforested.

In 2018, Colombia's Supreme Court passed a law that grants the jungle and rivers legal personhood—a significant step in advancing the rights of nature. Despite this progressive law, the Colombian Amazon continues to suffer from deforestation.

Orquídea is currently a work in progress.
